Diesel to Open Denim Store in Aoyama
Italy's Diesel to open "Diesel Denim Gallery Aoyama" read on >> On September 4, Diesel will open a new retail location "Diesel Denim Gallery Aoyama" in the upscale Tokyo fashion neighborhood of Aoyama. The two-story space will have 200 m2 in floor space. The interior is minimalist, modeled on an art gallery design where patrons may walk around to view the high-priced denim displayed like pieces of art.

United Arrows Forms Capital Alliance with Mitsubishi Corporation
Mitsubishi Corporation acquires 3.41% of United Arrows issued shares. read on >> Mitsubishi Corporation announced on August 28th that the company has acquired 3.41% of select shop United Arrows' issued shares for around 3 billion JPY. This action makes Mitsubishi UA's eighth largest shareholder. Mitsubishi will use the capital alliance to assist UA in expanding business and attaining greater efficiencies in distribution.

From Autumn/Winter 2007, Nagoya shirtmaker Suzugen will distribute U.K.'s Hilditch & Key to Japanese department stores. Suzugen will import shirts re-sized in the U.K. to fit the Japanese, as well as offer order-made shirts made in Suzugen's factories.
The master license for H&K is held by Yamano & Associates. The shirts are currently sold as standard imports in limited quantities at select shops

Onward Kashiyama group company Bus Stop has acquired the exclusive rights to import and sell Pauric Sweeney's bag line in the Japanese market. From 2008, the Irish-born, Tuscany-based designer 's bags for both sexes — as well as other leather accessories — will be available at Onward's Via Bus Stop retail outlets in addition to other locations.
Prices are estimated to be between 150,000 and 300,000 JPY.

Merrell Opens First Store in Japan
Marubeni Footwear has opened the first directly-managed Merrell store in Japan. read on >> On August 17, Marubeni Footwear (Coleman, Talus) opened the first directly managed store for American outdoor shoe brand Merrell in Kawasaki BE located inside of the Kawasaki train station.
The store is 70 square meters and aims at yearly revenues of 100 million JPY.

Sanki will deliver three lines to forty stores — first line Barbara Bui, second line Bui de Barbara Bui, and her accessory line. Itochu Corporation has won the license to manufacture and sell American casual brand Le Tigre in Japan. read on >>
Itochu Corporation has signed an exclusive manufacturing and sales license with American casual brand Le Tigre, setting the stage for a 2008 launch of the American casual brand in Japan.
The men's line will be sublicensed to Jichodo (Head, Duck Head, PRO-Keds), and ladies apparel will go to Outburn (Vans, Kangol, Lotto). Hats will be handled by Kurihara (Adidas, Reebok, Converse) and socks by Unitika Berkshire.
Itochu expects a revenue base of 1.5 billion JPY after three years. Le Tigre currently makes 4.8 billion JPY in the American market.
